We have recently welcomed a new Veterinarian!  Meet Dr. Danielle Harkness>>>

Deworming Services for Pets

We prescribe chewable tablets, oral liquids, topicals, and more to remove intestinal parasites.

Almost all dogs and cats can have parasites passed on from their mothers while nursing. Deworming is the best and safest way to remove internal parasites before they create health complications. We’ll recommend a dewormer medication that will remove parasites without harming your dog or cat. A stool sample to perform laboratory testing is best to identify parasites.

Which dewormer should my dog or cat use?

Our veterinary team will help you take the guesswork out of choosing a dewormer by recommending the best option for your dog or cat’s needs. Depending on your dog or cat’s stage of life or behaviour, they could need more frequent deworming.

Why does my indoor cat need a dewormer?

No dog or cat is off limits to internal parasites, even if they’re indoors. Even puppies and kittens are born with internal parasites. The only way to prevent parasite infections is to provide your dog or cat with a monthly preventive. We recommend broad-spectrum preventives that can safeguard your pet from some of the most common internal parasites like:

  • Roundworms
  • Whipworms
  • Hookworms
  • Tapeworms
  • Giardia

Can dogs and cats pass on intestinal parasites?

Yes, they can be passed on to other dogs and cats. In some cases, intestinal parasites are zoonotic, which means they can be transmitted to humans. Though these infections can be treated, they can be especially harmful to pregnant people, children and people who are immunocompromised. Deworming and preventives are the best way to keep your entire family safe from preventable infections. Parasites are rarely visible by the naked eye and the eggs that are passed in the stool are microscopic.  This is why we recommend yearly stool sample testing. We have a variety of dewormers in different forms, including pills, chewable tablets, liquids, or ones you can disguise in their food.
